The 2021 Youth Committee forum of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys was successfully held

On Oct. 12, 2021, the 2021 Youth Committee forum of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys was successfully held in Shenyang, China. 59 Scholars including some Editorial Board members, Youth Committee members and representatives from Beihang University, Central South University, Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS), Chongqing University, Dalian University of Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Jilin University, Northeastern University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shenzhen Research Institute of Peking University, etc. attended this forum. Prof. Fusheng Pan, Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (JMA), Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chairman of Chongqing Science and Technology Association, and Honorary Director of National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys attended the meeting. The conference was presided over by Prof. Yuansheng Yang (CAS), Editorial Board member of JMA.

Prof. Fusheng Pan gave a welcome speech to the on-site Editorial Board members, Youth Committee members and representatives, and thanked all participants for their continuous support for JMA. Prof. Xiaodong Peng, Executive Associate Editor of JMA, made a brief introduction about the development and the future development plan of JMA. Prof. Yuansheng Yang announced the list of the first Youth Committee members of JMA, which consists of 96 scholars from China, Australia, Germany, Japan, USA, Korea, Singapore, and Iran. Prof. Fusheng Pan and Prof. Enhou Han from CAS awarded the letter of appointment to the on-site Youth Committee members.

During this forum, an innovative on-site manuscripts review was organized by JMA. The Youth Committee members were divided into two groups to review the manuscripts and a comprehensive review comments was collected for each manuscript after in-depth discussion. In the end, review comments for 4manuscripts were collected. JMA tried to explore more innovative review measures with the aim to improve the review efficiency and quality of JMA papers. In addition, the on-site Editorial Board members, Youth Committee members and representatives made valuable suggestions to the development of JMA.

JMA with an impact factor of 10.088 in 2020, which ranks No. 1 in 80academic journals of Metallurgy and Metallurgical Engineering (JCR Q1), and a Cite Score of 10.3, has become an important journal with high international impact.
