The 2019 Editorial Board Meeting of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys was successfully held

On Aug. 19, 2019, the 2019 Editorial Board meeting of the Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (JMA) was successfully held in Ramada Plaza Hotel in Qujiang, Xi’an. Some Editors and representatives from Ohio State University in USA, Helmholtz Zentrum Geesthacht in Germany, the University of Queensland in Australia, Seoul National University in South Korea, Pohang University of Science and Technology in South Korea, Chongqing University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing University of Technology, Northeastern University, Xi'an Jiaotong University and Harbin Engineering University attended the meeting. Prof. Fusheng Pan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chairman of Chongqing Science and Technology Association, Director of National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys, and Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys(JMA) attended the meeting. The conference was presided over by Professor Xiaodong Peng, Executive Deputy Editor of JMA.

Firstly, Prof. Fusheng Pan gave a speech to welcome the participating editors and representatives, and thanked all the editors for their continuous support for JMA. Dr. Yan Yang, the managing editor of JMA made a brief introduction about the development and the future development plan of JMA. Prof. Xiaodong Peng announced the list of new editorial board members of JMA, and Prof. Fusheng Pan issued the letter of appointment to the new editorial board members. The six newly added editorial members are M. Gupta, M. Yamasaki, Yuansheng Yang, Wenbo Du, Dingfei Zhang and Rongchang Zeng from Singapore, Japan and China respectively. The meeting announced the 2019 awards of JMA Excellent Editors. Five experts including Professor A.A. Luo, Professor K.U. Kainer, Professor Andrej Atrens, Professor Rongshi Chen and Prof. Fusheng Pan won the JMA Excellent Editor Award. The editor-in-chief, Prof. Fusheng Pan awarded the honorary certificate to the winners of JMA Excellent Editor Award.

Participating editors and representatives discussed in-depth countermeasures and measures for the future development of JMA. Professor Andrej Atrens from the University of Queensland, Australia, Professor A.A. Luo from Ohio State University, Professor K.S. Shin from Seoul National University, South Korea, Professor N.J. Kim from Pohang University of Science and Technology, South Korea, Dr. Y.D. Huang from the Helmholtz Zentrum Geesthacht in Germany, Professor Guohua Wu, Professor Liming Peng, Professor Leyun Wang from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Professor Wenbo Du from Beijing University of Technology, Professor Rongshi Chen from the Institute of Metal Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Rongchang Zeng from Shandong University of Science and Technology, and other experts all offered their suggestions for the development of JMA in future. Finally, Prof. Fusheng Pan summarized the meeting, affirmed the useful suggestions of the participants, and made specific arrangements for the future key tasks of JMA.

JMA with an impact factor of 4.523 in 2018, which ranks No. 5 in 76academic journals of Metallurgy and Metallurgical Engineering (JCR Q1), and a Cite Score of 4.77, has become an important journal with high international impact.
