Recently, the result of "International Influence Promotion Plan of China Science and Technology Journals(the second phase of D project in the 2018) was officially announced. The Plan was jointly implemented by six ministries and commissions of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, the National Press and Publication Administration, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Journal of Magnesium and Alloys sponsored by Chongqing University was successfully selected. After qualification examination, expert evaluation and result announcement, twenty English nationwide journals in total have been selected. All the selected journals have priority to obtain the issue number and have been provided a grant of 500,000 yuan. The selection competition for this influence promotion plan is very fierce. Twenty journals were finally selected from 87journals with defense, and only 10journals were sponsored by universities.

Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (JMA) was founded by National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys (CCMg) of Chongqing University and the Chinese Committee for Magnesium and its Applications (CCMA) in 2013. JMA is the first academic journal focusing on magnesium alloys, which is published by Elsevier Press. Prof. Fusheng Pan (Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering) of Chongqing University, serves as chief editor, and professor Xiaodong Peng serves as executive deputy associate editor. The editorial board consists of well-known experts in the field of magnesium alloys from more than10 countries, including the United States, Australia, Canada, Japan and Russia. The editorial board member of JMA include the president of the International Magnesium Association, the chairman of the Korean Materials Society, the member of the American Academy of Engineering, the editor-in-chief of Acta Mater and Mater Sci Eng A, etc., and a number of internationally renowned scientists, etc. Since its establishment, JMA received strong support from Chongqing University, the academic quality and academic influence of the journal have continued to rise. Up to now, JMA has been indexed by international important databases such as ESCI. JMA is also indexed in the core database in Web of Science.

The journal department of Chongqing University and JMA editorial office pay high attention to and carefully prepared for this application, resulting in JMA is successfully selected. This selection is a full affirmation and strong support for the development of the journal. The editorial office of JMA will take this opportunity in future to strengthen the internationalization, brand and digitalization of journals， and further enhance its international impact and contribute to the school's "Double First-Class" construction.
